What we do · The Operations Survey

Walk the floor first

Some businesses will not hand over a transaction extract on day one, and that should not be the reason they go unread. The Operations Survey needs no data extract at all: a plant walk and structured interviews are the whole instrument.

What it is

The Operations Survey reads what breaks first when volume doubles, without needing your data on day one. We walk the floor with the people who run it, not only the people who manage it, and read safety, quality, on-time delivery, and turnover the way the business already measures them. That is what separates it from the Profit Survey: the Profit Survey starts from a transaction extract, this one starts from access to people and the floor. Both end the same way, with a ranked read of what to fix first.

What you receive

  • 01

    The plant walk

We walk the floor with the people who actually run it, not the people who manage it from an office above it. The org chart tells you who is responsible. It rarely tells you where the trouble actually lives, and a walk with the right person often finds it inside the first hour.

  • 02

    Structured interviews

We run structured interviews with your team on what is actually working today, not only on what is broken. The fix a business needs often already exists somewhere inside the building, in a process one shift runs well and another has never seen. We find it and write it down before we recommend anything new.

  • 03

    Capacity and quality, read plainly

We read where volume would give way first: which line, which shift, which handoff. And we read what a defect actually costs once it is caught, not what it costs on paper. The two numbers together usually point at a different place than either the production report or the last consultant's report did.

  • 04

    Basic operating measures

We measure safety, customer concerns in parts per million, on-time delivery, and employee retention and turnover, consistently across every site you operate. Many multi-site businesses cannot compare one location to another because each one measures differently. A shared definition, applied everywhere, is what makes the comparison honest.

We present the findings to you in person, not by email, and propose in writing only where the evidence supports a Blueprint. The findings are yours whether or not you proceed.

What it needs from you

  • Access to the people who run the floor, not only the people who manage it
  • Time on the floor with a walk-through of where the trouble actually lives
  • Structured interview time with your team on what already works
  • No transaction extract required, by design

How it ends

The Operations Survey ends with an in-person presentation and a written proposal, not a sales pitch disguised as one. You receive the ranked findings regardless of what you decide next, and if a Manufacturing Blueprint is warranted, the proposal follows the evidence.

Where it fits

The Operations Survey is the Survey rung of the Operations area's Manufacturing and Delivery lanes: what breaks first when volume doubles, read without needing your data on day one. It precedes the Manufacturing Blueprint. See How we work for the full sequence.
